Hi All,
The Legal Ombudsman has agreed to look into a complaint / dispute I have about fees a solicitor has charged me. However, as the firm is now taking me to court over the fees, the Legal Ombudsman cannot do anything unless a stay is granted.
I need to give a valid reason for the stay, and that is the tricky part. Nothing seems to fit, expect for perhaps stay to allow for the settlement of the case (CPR 26.4), but that isn't actually quite right. There's so many, and I am not a lawyer, so I'm quite lost in all of this.
Moreover, the firm does not agree to the stay. They want to go to court (I think this is because they think they will be criticised by the LO as they did lots of things wrong).
Can anyone help me with the relevant CPR please?!
