Changing my name?

I recently got married and have started the process of changing my name to my husbands, which is way more complex than I expected!

I’ve got a D1 form from the dvla to get a new drivers license, but I feel like I’ve hit a bit of a chicken and egg situation. It asks for proof of name change (marriage certificate) and proof of ID - it suggests a passport (or at least the passport number), however I haven’t updated my passport yet so it’s still in my maiden name. Would that work? Or do I need to apply for my new passport first, and then do my drivers license?

Has anyone done this recently? What did you do? Thanks

Why bother? 37 on years I never did, it hasn’t been a problem.

Just don't bother, as much of a ball ache it is to do it when you marry, it's even more of a ball ache to change it back if you get divorced - as I have recently found myself 😂😂

I bothering because I don’t want a different name to my kid (I’m pregnant), plus I much prefer my husbands name to mine

My passport is in my maiden name but I got a new driving license - were talking 3 months ago so I'd be surprised if the rules have changed that much. Are you sure about the passport? I seem to remember the form was confusing as it covered a number of reasons for requesting a driving license. I think I only sent marriage certificate from memory.
I don't like my new name but I wanted to use the same name as husband and son!

Lol was being lighthearted. Really not that hard to change name with DVLA just fill in new name on form and send marriage cert no need to mess with passport. I never changed my passport (still had 9yrs to run) but did change my driving license. So can do one without the other. And BTW just not having a different name to your 'kid' is not the fantastic retort you thought it was 😂

Your passport is ID, of who you are. Your marriage certificate reflects the change you wish to make. Absolutely normal.
