Can anyone recommend a medical negligence solicitor/firm?
I have been diagnosed with MS after a consultant refusing me an mri 18 months ago when I presented with symptoms. I’ve been in denial since and am beyond devastated now. Any advice is very welcome thank you.

You need a medico-legal solicitor, but the crux of it will be, what is the ‘damage’ this has caused. Has it denied you defined medication or therapy that means your condition has further declined when it would not have otherwise. If the answer is yes, medico-legal would be the route, if the answer is no, then a legal route is futile and it would be more if a PALS matter.

I don’t want/need an answer to the above, that’s immaterial, just setting out where you stand.

No advice, but solidarity. My GP was extremely reluctant to refer me for my neurological symptoms ("I think it's health anxiety") until I eventually insisted on paying for a private appointment and MRI. Was eventually diagnosed three years after symptom onset. Fuming.

Honestly these are incredibly hard to win. You'd need to show that your doctor behaved 'unreasonably' in thinking your symptoms were something else and also prove that you've suffered harm as a result of the delay in diagnosis.

I'd concentrate on your health now and getting yourself as well as possible rather than dragging this on yourself .

Mala Sidebottom is a partner from Moore Barlow
She is a fully qualified doctor ( was an anaesthetist in the NHS) as well
as a top medical negligence solicitor and a nice woman too
