CAFCASS Ombudsman

Hi, abusive ex. Court proceedings in which he clearly kept changing his story and making false allegations. Family court proceedings have now finished.

CAFCASS originally did a good job then the Family Court Advisor changed to a shocker. Mistakes everywhere. Reports with mistakes in....reports not up-issued etc etc.

I raised it with an Ombudsman, with a signed MP form. The Ombudsman have replied and said that I can't get another Family Court Advisor to assess the case...

Any advice on what else I can suggest, as I can feel another carpet being lifted up.....the system seems so entirely broken.

What can I ask from the Ombudsman instead? Thanks in advance

I guess the Ombo in question is the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO). What they can and cannot do is constrained by law.

Did they actually find Maladministration by CAFCASS/FCA?

Hi, the Ombudsman reply is very short to be honest.

I think CAFCASS made lots of mistakes. They ignored lots of the abuse and said I only flagged it after court proceedings started. This wasn't true. I logged it with the police long before that. They've ignored police logs and also said that Dad was psychologically controlling our son but were all 'never mind!'

I complained. I went through the Cafcass complaints procedure, then to the ombudsman with my MP's signature. Ombudsmen said it was after a year, so couldn't look at it. Whole complaint procedure against family courts, solicitors and Cafcass is massively designed to frustrate you/put you off. It's a depressing thought. This issue is of public interest.

@theflower I'm sorry. You're right, the system is somewhat broken. At least you've tried and got it all logged I guess.

My son is starting to figure out now that his Dad lies and causes trouble. Little comfort but....
