Probate wait

I applied via a solicitor at the end of April for probate, it really is a straightforward case, yet the solicitor says they still haven't had anything back.

Really this is very long any ideas on why the wait?

I was told at least 20 weeks, so it's long but not overly so - they are very backed up, it seems.

It sounds about right, 16 to 20 week wait if its a very straightforward simple case and everything is presented appropriately.

I work in retirement

Last 3 probate cases we have had

1 has just gone through she passed in February 23
1 from March 23 is still waiting
(daughter is hopeful soon)
1 passed March 22 took until January 23 but it was a more complex case

Hope that gives you some idea.

A relative had a very simple one done and it took around 5 months.

is probate easy enough to do yourself? Friends dad has passed, house (approx £300k) left to her and sibling, around £50k in savings.
