Legal rights re Apple and iPhones

Please help. Paid for an iPhone 13 outright in Apple Store the other day. Long story short- I hate the phone. Previously had 8plus for years but this recently broke.
It was only a few days ago- what are my rights? Am I entitled to say I hate the phone and would I be able to have a refund?
Also, the battery runs down way quicker than I thought it would - I was looking forward to having a battery running down much more slowly. Plus the phone sometimes gets really hot and it’s not on charge or being used for calls.
Unfortunately I got a screen protector put on it as soon as I left the shop but just the usual clear plastic one. Does this affect a return?
Every new phone in the past I have loved
I loathe this and know I’ll never like it
Am I better to just say I hate it? Or should I say re battery etc ? Or would that create other issues?
Thanks

I would be honest and just say you don't like it and would like a refund, I think you may be surprised....Just do it ASAP

Well no offence, but I'd hope they wouldn't accept it back. It's used, it can't be resold as new?

Of course you’re not entitled to that in law.

however you’re lucky that you brought the phone from Apple as they may accept the return within 14 days.

The phone is not faulty if that’s what you’re suggesting. Frankly I’m not sure what you expected when buying an old and cheaper model iPhone, the battery is better in the more expensive (Pro) and newer models. Of course your phone will get hot with the weather we have had recently too.

If you bought something in an actual shop, you do not have a legal right to your money back because you change your mind (you do if the item is faulty).

It's entirely up to the retailer if they offer exchange/credit note/refund on items the customer has changed their mind about. So best bet is to go back to the shop, ask, hope for the best, and be ready to negotiate

I have seen Apple unofficially offer a refund, provided you return it with a few days, the "used" phone will won't be resold as new.

My understanding is that Apple's returns policy - for items bought directly from them - is quite generous. I would definitely go into the store and explain.

I have also seen Apple refund when a new model has been announced, and you just bought the old one.

I smashed the screen on a day old phone, and they sold me a new one for the cost of the screen, as new screens weren't available yet. I was more than impressed.

I don’t think they were stocking the Pro as this is what I’d have gone for re PP up Thread

Apple do a fourteen day money back guarantee no questions asked. As long as the phone isn’t damaged. If you’ve had it longer than that you could potentially trade it for a different model but the trade value will be lower than you paid for it.

If you liked your iPhone 8 then I would just buy an SE.
