Can I print a will for free and sign it? With witnesses?
Will it be valid?

You don’t even need to print something from online, you can just write something saying ‘Everything goes to my DS, the executor is uncle Bob, signed hamsterballs’ or whatever it is that you want. You only need a lawyer to help you if you want something a bit complicated or you want them to store it for you. The important part is that it you need to have it witnessed and the witnesses need to sign it too. Gov website sets it all out: https://www.gov.uk/make-will

Be warned that probate solicitors make a lot of money from people who have made DIY wills like this. Of course, the person who made the will never see the problems. They will only emerge after death. Your DIY will may be fine. But it may end up costing your loved ones a lot of money as they try to sort it out.

Getting a will done professionally doesn't have to be expensive. @mumblechum0 is regularly recommended on here. She trades as Marlow Wills.

@prh47bridge thank you for that. I am nervous now, might be worth paying then.

I had my Will done for free through Macmillan. It was all done online then we printed it signed, had witnesses sign then scanned it back on. It was then verified by legal team. You have the option to keep it on file so you can amend it which incurs a yearly charge (at time was £30 a year) or you can print it again and cancel the account.
