I've posted before about my financial situation which me an ex agreed to sort next summer when the fixed rate comes to an end on the mortgage.

However she's just informed me that he's planning on applying for the divorce now on direct gov. I'm fine with this I just assumed we would do it once the financial things are sorted, however he's happy to pay it now so I'll sign whatever, but my question is will it be approved while we're financially connected?

What happens next year when we sort the finances but we are already divorced?

Any children? If so usually finances have to be sorted before decree absolute.

Thanks Yes 3. So what will happen, will he not be able to proceed or will it go through just without anything financial being sorted?

You can mediate now to resolve the finances, but the court won't seal any financial order until after the conditional order has been granted in the divorce, and it won't take effect until after the final order.

It's not possible to resolve the finances before the divorce is at conditional order stage (though you can agree everything, but it's not legally binding until the court seal it as per the paragraph above).

Conversely, it is entirely possible to divorce without resolving the finances first (or at all) - it's just inadvisable.
