Builder - negative review

DH and I are having a debate over posting a negative review online - a couple of years ago we were renovating a house and unfortunately made a poor decision when hiring a builder - he caused significant delays to the project, did not take due care and when asked to fix the issues he created (wrong measurements for doors, wonky walls, substandard plastering etc.) he walked away with a not insignificant advance payment for the works not completed. We tried talking to him, paid for mediation but have got nowhere, so ended up paying other contractors to redo the work we already paid him for.

The question is - if we post a negative review worded similar to the above (i.e. factual, not rude or personal), would there be a case for him to take us to court for defamation or similar?

We have proof of every statement to go on the review as initially we actually tried to take him to court but had some poor advice which meant we had to ask for the claim to be dismissed (long story). He also lied to us, acted in an aggressive way etc. but I don't think complaining about it online would achieve anything, so not planning to include this.

He can try to sue you for libel, but he won't succeed providing you can prove the truth of any factual statements and any statements of opinion are your honest opinions.
