Recording solicitor call with the other side

Can I check a weird request?

I’m unfortunately having to sue a nasty piece of work, won’t go into the specifics, but after a lot of back and forth between solicitors, the other person (not their solicitor) has contacted my solicitor’s office directly requesting a phone call with the solicitor. The other person has often made empty promises on the phone to me but not committed in writing, so straight away I’m sceptical of them doing it with my solicitor to drag things out further.

I’d trust my solicitor to speak on my behalf but I want there to be a record of what the other person has said so it could be used as evidence in court if needed.

Someone told me all solicitor calls are recorded anyway. Is this true? Thanks in advance!

Your solicitor cannot speak to the other person if they are also represented by a solicitor.

No all solicitor calls are not recorded. But each solicitor should be taking detailed meeting notes.

Thanks both of you! You’ve saved me 6 minutes of an obscene hourly rate 🙈
