Clauses in a contract?

DD has a pony that was kept on livery yard 1. Yard was fab, but for various reasons decided to
move her to livery yard 2.

On 1st July I gave 1 month notice and paid our month’s livery as usual to livery yard 1 - so notice period and fees covered us until 31st July.

Due to transport availability/busy at work/etc (and the fact that the yard owners turned into complete bullies the day we handed our notice in) we moved pony and most of her stuff to livery yard 2 in the evening of 10th July. We left a few things behind and needed to finish mucking out the stable at livery yard 1.

The following morning I wake up to a snotty message from livery yard 1 stating that as per our contract, our livery contract ends when our pony leaves the yard so I need to come and get the rest of our stuff and muck out the stable or they would dispose of our belongings and charge us for mucking out. No refund for the remaining 2 weeks of livery fees already paid.

I don’t actually remember if this was in our contract and I’ve lost the copy.

It’s done and dusted and I’m not going to make a fuss, pony is happy at new yard and all is cool, but I am interested in whether this is actually fair to have in a contract bearing in mind, have paid my livery until the 31st of July.

Our previous yard and our current yard have used livery contract templates they’ve downloaded from BHS and neither contain clauses like that.

Thanks!
