Changing my daughters surname.

She has her dads surname. He isn’t on the birth certificate. In the process of leaving as he is abusive

Can anyone give me some advice? He hasn’t got PR but I don’t even know where to start and I think he’s got rid of her birth certificate anyway

You can order a new birth certificate
You don't need his permission if he isn't on the birth certificate
You can do an enrolled or unenrolled deed poll I think

There is useful advice on changing names on the gov.uk website. Don't pay a company to arrange a name change for you - all you'd be doing is buying a fancy certificate.
