SAR request for incident at school

11 yr old DS (has ASD for full disclosure), witnessed another child kick his friend off play equipment at school. Out of nowhere, no reason, wouldn’t explain herself to teacher when it was reported. This child sometime later accused my DC of kicking them back in retaliation. No witnesses, no visible marks etc.

This child’s family told school
they were taking her to A&E and reporting my DC to the police (!), before then keeping her off school for several days.

I have requested a SAR about the incident so that if it is taken further I have some written evidence, although school have told me they think it is ridiculous. However, I have just received a very formal email from school saying I cannot have any info, quoting third-party data exemption. I thought they would be able to send me a redacted copy of the info.

I know exactly who this child is anyway, she lives almost directly behind our house. Is there anything further I can do to get a copy of this report?

What do you think will happen? Can't you just let it go?

If she named your child in the incident you can have a copy of the report says X was kicked by another given ice pack - which is usual - then no you can’t.

You can only be given information school hold about your own child. So all you’d get was a report on what your child say they’d witnessed. No names of any other children, no info on what other children may have said. So yes, its pretty pointless.

That’s fair enough, thank you all. I just wanted to be sure. I can, and will let it go. It just hasn’t been very nice wondering if the police actually would knock at my door (as unlikely as I know that is). If my DS knew this had been said he’d be distraught.
