Car from dealer

I probably have no hope but this is just not fair . We bought a car from a dealership for £16k and it's only lasted 12 months . Dpf is horrendously blocked and turbo etc it will cost £5k to fix . They would have know from diagnostic and checks before selling as it's so bad . I'm not able to use the car at all because it's in limp mode . They said it's been serviced and checked etc

Go to your nearest we buyanycar, they will have it, you can get a quote online too. We had to do this not long ago.

As it has been 12 months since you purchased the car, it is up to you to prove that the faults were present when you bought it. Get a report from an independent engineer. If that supports your case and they refuse to repair the car, replace it or give you a refund, you can take them to the small claims court.

Blocked DPFs are normally caused by driving style and this could easily have occurred during the past 12 months, what action have you taken to ensure the DPF is able to regen? Why are you so certain they would’ve known? They may not have done any diagnostics if there were no symptoms and the fact that it’s run for another 12 months suggests it can’t have been that bad. How many miles have you done? Even manufacturers’ warranties usually exclude blocked DPFs.
