Bonus

I wondered if anyone can give an opinion on a question relating to a bonus please?

My annual bonus is due to be paid at the end of the month - this relates to performance last year.

In my contract it says that if I resign or am working my notice before this is paid, I won’t receive it.

It also says that my employer can change the terms of the bonus scheme at any time.

What I’m wondering is whether once it’s paid to me, if I was to leave, would they be able to take this back at some point? I have seen a job I’m interested in but would be concerned about spending the bonus (earmarked for something in particular) if I might then have to repay it!

There is nothing about repayment in my contract, but it does say that bit about changing the terms?

This is why resignations happen the day after bonuses are received!

They can’t claw back after paid, but make your it’s in your account first.

You can have a clause that says if you resign within the three months after you are paid the bonus you will have to pay it back, it's gets deducted from your final payslip, people often get caught out with this.

Yes but that's if it specifically states that. They can't remain silent on the subject and then take back the bonus once it's been paid.
