Trust fund/ use of second home

My Aunt had a holiday home that was left in trust when she died for the use of the wider family including me and my children - is this 'share' of the house something I can leave to my Grandchildren? Presuming of course that funds are still available for the running of it

@alsonotmyname it will depend how the trust has been written. I would have thought the intention was for you and your descendants to be able to benefit. This would include your GC etc.

Pragmatically, if it has only been left to family members and their DC then what does the trust say should happen after the last of those specifically named pass away?

You need a solicitor to look at the trust to see what will happen long term.

Thank you for replying- for her children it mentions their issue and remoter issue but for me and siblings it is for us and our issue, the whole fund passes to the trustees after 125 years

@alsonotmyname based on what you have posted I think it would be up to the trustees and your Aunts direct descendants to allow your GC to use the property once you and your DC are no longer here.

If you are looking to write your will it’s worth asking the solicitor.
