Illegal structure

Our neighbour has a habit of pushing the boundaries of planning. There are other things which have been upsetting.

We have lowered our hedges recently to 2 metres (they were higher)

The neighbour has built a treehouse 4.5 metres which looms over our garden.

He is a difficult person but I am not happy about the structure and reading around it is illegal in height

Have you spoken to anyone about it? I'd perhaps contact your LA.

I think it's about 4m depending on the type of roof that's allowed? When we had one built at my grandparents a few years back I think that was the rule.

Tbh if you can only see it now you've decided to trim your hedges to 2m (they must have been huge if you couldn't see a 4.5m treehouse before!!) are you going to try to have it taken down?

I don't want to be unreasonable but it's on our boundary. They have a huge garden bigger than ours and the structure against the hedge.

If planning had been made we would have objected

Can you let the hedge grow back?

So go to Planning now, they can enforce but it may be that ndn make a retrospective application.

The hedge was blocking our light and the child it was built for has grown up. we grew the hedge up for privacy but now we want our light which is not unreasonable

It has a turret so you aren't far off

It sure but it's changed since the hedge has grown a few years
