DNA test to establish parentage

I would like to arrange a DNA test to establish my paternal parentage. Of the 2 contenders, one is very elderly (late 80's) so I feel I can't ask him (& he'd refuse anyway I expect). The other 'contender' is deceased. Would the deceased's sister (who is willing) be adequate to establish this please?

I have very few resources so would an Ancestry / 23 & me type test be okay?

The Genealogy board may be able to help with Ancestry etc. tests. www.mumsnet.com/talk/genealogy

I am on ancestry and a lot of my family are too. It’s very easy to see how you are related to people on there. It tells you maternal/paternal matches and then can tell you how the person is related to you. There is 25% off tests at the moment.

Having your “aunt” do her dna will absolutely give you the answer you need. A few of my aunties have done theirs and it’s very clear we are related.

You may find a more distant relative already registered on the site and may not need your “aunt” to give you the answers you need.

Good luck
