Nhs complaint

My mum died earlier this year, quite suddenly and unexpectedly after some treatment and later admission. The hospital launched their own investigation into her care when she was admitted and concluded that her death was avoidable.

I've submitted a complaint, as their investigation showed a catestrophic chain of events that individually wouldn't have been too dangerous, but together led to her rapid decline and death; there were additionally huge flaws in the investigation itself, as confirmed by two junior doctor friends.

I've had correspondence to say that their original deadline is being extended due to delays in information being provided to them. There is a full investigation already in place in the hospital!

Just after a bit of a handhold, and if anyone has any advice as to the NHS complaint system etc.

Thanks in advance

I'm really sorry about your mum. I'm currently waiting for answers from the NHS regarding my late father, my complaint went in just shy of three years ago. Obviously the pandemic has slowed things down somewhat but it does seem to be dragging on, PALS keep me updated every two or three months. It's difficult because I feel like I can't have proper closure re my dad until I get some answers, so at times it's really upsetting. Ultimately though I know he would have wanted me to at least try, even if it's just to prevent it happening to someone else.
