Window company and faulty windows

Hello, I had several windows replaced and all panes ( two per window) have visible scratches and cracks.

This is verified by the window company and their glass manufacturer who have both sent people to inspect.

They are now saying according to GGF guidelines, any scratch/crack within 5mm from the edge or not visible from 3 metres away is acceptable tolerance.

Obviously, my main argument is that that is a load of tosh, the windows are cracked, why on earth would this be acceptable?

But more objectively, there is no mention of these guidelines (or a scratch/crack tolerance) in the T&Cs I signed nor the contract, and neither the sales team nor installers mentioned it.

Surely they cannot apply guidelines that I never agreed to? Does this flout consumer rights?

Thank you!
