Hi All,

After some advice.

My ex and I split in December and I initiated proceedings for the transfer of equity so our children could stay in the home.

We completed in August.

He now wants an additional payment from me for the house despite the transfer being complete.

He has alleged that I verbally agreed a lump sum to be paid at a later date. This is not in any of the legal paperwork and was not agreed.

Now the transfer is complete, can I be chased for this 'payment'.

The rational part of my brain says of course not, but I'm in a permanent state of worry.

Did you have a consent order and if so did you get it sealed by the court?

We weren't married so it was a straight transfer of equity?

Did you verbally agree it?

Regardless I would have thought that he'd be unlikely to successfully pursue a claim for the payment in court without having anything in writing but a solicitor would be able to give you more information.

No, I haven't verbally agreed to anything! I think it has to do with him running up debt and telling his gf he has funds coming to clear it.
