Solicitors letter

My DH was in an accident a year ago. It happened at work, off site at another companies site - it was very serious and he nearly died. He's left disabled with life changing injuries and PTSD.
The solicitor has been sending letters to the owner who ignores all contact. Is it true that he doesn't have to make contact. Seems pointless if so?

A solicitor's letter has no legal force. The owner can ignore them. Your husband needs to get his solicitor to send a letter before action if one hasn't been sent already. If the owner ignores that, he can then start legal action.

It was, they are investigating but the man is apparently difficult to find.
