Half Siblings - Scotland

My dad had children from his relationship with my mum and children with another woman. I have no relationship with the half siblings.

Should anything happen to me, would it be my husband and children who would legally get everything or would they have a claim on my estate. My friend has been watching too many episodes of Heir Hunters says they’ll have a claim on my estate. I can’t find anything online.

Thanks

Your husband would get everything

On you estate or your dad's do you mean?

I've always found The Gazette quite informative on such questions.

If you are talking about when you die ? Hopefully you have made a Will if you have children? In which case it goes to whoever you bequeathed it to (with the exception of any % property that's automatically your husbands due to marriage) . If there is no will then it also goes to your husband then children under intestacy laws.

If you make a will, your estate will be distributed in accordance with that will. Your half siblings would not have any claim on your estate.

If you die without making a will, your husband and children will inherit. Again, your half siblings would not have any claim on the estate.

Your half siblings will only inherit if you die without a will and your husband and children are already dead.

as above but also in the case of your children don’t leave any children to represent them. If no descendants or spouse and no will (unlikely) it would be split between parents and siblings.
