Husband asked for divorce but hasn’t applied

Hi

just that really. 3 months ago my husband asked for a divorce, he’s moved out got a new woman, new life, the works, but I still haven’t the divorce application from him.

It’s been a highly intense and sometimes abusive relationship and I’m wondering if he’s been advised to wait for me to apply. If that is the case, is there anything that would be at my detriment? I need to hire a solicitor but I’m waiting until we go to mediation and he gives me his financial requirements (I don’t have any money to hire one now but I have done free consultations)

Does anyone know why he’d wait for me to do it or delay it? Could it just be mind games? (He left me and now he’s saying I kicked him out)

There is no disadvantage in being the one to apply for divorce.

other than the fact that you have to pay the court fees

You can ask the court to order that costs be shared.
