Transfer of Deed - help please

My friend is being asked to sign a transfer of deed so their ex partner can buy them out of the FMH to remain in it with the children. They are requesting bank documents as well as the TR1.

Is this normal? The government website doesn’t require him to proof his finances. I am out of my depths and have advised My friend to see a solicitor but they want to save money and do it themselves. Any advice please? TIA

The solicitor acting for the ex partner needs to prove his identity. That is perfectly proper and normal.

He needs to appoint a solicitor to ensiure he gets his money and is freed from the mortgage.

If he's too much of a cheapskate to pay for legal advice then he takes the risk of messing it all up.

Thank you @Collaborate. I have told my friend again and screenshotted your response. It’s the bank documents that their ex wants that made me question it.
