Do we need probate?

Mum passed away recently, there is a will, everything left to my Dad (living!). They own 2 properties (joint tenants I think) and Mum has a savings account and that’s it.

Googling it seems we may not need to go through probate?

Can anyone advise please?

I think so although it sounds like a formality. How much is it worth?

If the savings account is in her name, they may ask for probate. Ring their bereavement helpline and ask.
I did the probate application for my mum online. It’s straight forward - you don’t need a solicitor!

If they are joint tenants, the properties will automatically pass to your father, so the only thing in her estate will be the savings account (assuming it is in her sole name). As the previous poster says, it is up to the provider of the savings account whether you will need probate in order to deal with that account.
