Child maintenance

Does anyone know anything about child maintenance? I closed my case last year however I still get emails from cms, I checked the online account to see if it was closed or not and this is what it says, does this mean it’s opened or closed? Also he has never paid anything in 5 years (apart from £7 a couple of times but not more than that) but his arrears are only £500 why is that? They said he wasn’t working or claiming benefits so does that mean he won’t be charged any arrears?

You might have closed your case but the arrears still stand.

CMS arrears make very little sense to anyone. I think they have a magic 8 ball in the office emplace of an accounts team.

If you are on benefits you have to pay £7.00 a week. I personally don't know how anyone exists on benefits and to lose £7.00 probably puts you in calorie/heat deficit.

My ex is on benefits, when my she inevitably loses her joint lives with I wouldn't dream of pursing her through CMS as she is on benefits despite schadenfreude as I would experience from it.

He’s not on benefits, doesn’t work or claim benefits apparently. I’m sure they said they was writing off the arrears which is fine by me as I will never get them and £500 isn’t worth chasing. Just wondered why I was still getting emails from them when I closed the case.

Who knows, CMS send me love letters from time to time asking me for a fictious amount, as we have shared care I ring them from time to time saying no money is owed. They are a law onto themselves. Personally I am surprised a department so incompetent is allowed to exist.
