My father in law has died recently and my dh has received a letter from a solicitor dealing with the assets in his Will. We haven’t seen a copy of the Will.
One of the things it says in the letter is that dh and his brother have been gifted a policy, it doesn’t say what type, which his father had and that most of the money was removed prior to his fathers date of death but there is a very small amount left in it. The letter gives the name of the company the policy was with and gives what we think is a policy number but when dh phoned the company they had no record of it.
If dh was to email the solicitors about this policy would they be able to tell him anything about it?
Mainly , what kind of policy it was, how much was in it, who had access and who took the money out and when?
The reason we are wondering about this is because FIL was incapacitated in hospital for the last 10 months of his life. It is entirely possible that the money was removed before he went into hospital while he was still fit and healthy but would we be able to find out for sure?
