Hi, I am desperately hoping to get responses to this. My ex has been in breach of a financial consent order. I submitted form D50K to the court and have a hearing next week in Kingston upon Thames, please can someone tell me what to expect, what the court room is like, what to call the judge etc. I’m absolutely terrified, anxious and not sleeping over this. Thank you x

The judge will be sir or madam.
you’ll go in through security and give your name to an usher. You’ll wait in a waiting room until called in. If your ex is represented his lawyer may speak to you to see if any agreement can be reached outside court.
dont expect to go in at your exact time as they list several hearings at the same time and then juggle the morning list and also because some cases settle.

the room itself, I haven’t been to Kingston but many are just large office rooms with the judge on a raised bench. You’ll be shown where to sit when the usher shows you in but you’ll be one end of a row facing the judge and your ex will be at the other end, behind his lawyer if represented. The judge will probably ask you to explain the issues and then ask the other party for their response. Don’t interrupt the other side, let them finish and then say you’d like to respond to what they said.
best of luck.
