Car trouble

My daughter and her partner have recently split after 10 years, they have one child. They are both on the deeds to the house. They had a joint mortgage for a few years then partner won on the lottery. He paid mortgage off and bought himself amongst other things a 70k Audi. He bought my daughter a 2014 corsa for around 7k. No problem there, she loves the car. The logbook has his name on it but my daughter insures, mots and taxes the car. He now after about 4 years wants the car back, she has refused. Now shes found out he has sorn the car that she paid to tax. He hasn't told her he has done this, she found out when checking when her mot was due. Anybody know if what hes done is an offense. Being the registered keeper doesn't make him the owner. Left to me I'd ram it into his Audi and tell him keep it (joke) or hide some prawns in it

You're right that registered keeper isn't proof of ownership but if the purchase receipt is in his name then she's going to have a hard time proving it's her car. Has she got anything to prove that he gave her the car?

Not really, I've told her to look through old texts. He had the money from her old car when he bought her this one. I think shes going to text him a cleverly worded message to see if he admits it was a gift. Hes pissed off because he was removed from the house by the police for domestic violence and she wont move out and give him HIS house back.
