Facebook seller

I purchased some things from a Facebook seller who has what I thought a business page. It is ‘name’ co back at the beginning of December. A large chunk of my order did not arrive. Apparently they could not get that part and we’re going to refund me. It’s been 4 months of excuse after excuse. I want to take them to the small claims court but how do I do this when I don’t have their address?

Thank you.

Well first of all - how did you pay the seller ? Bank transfer ? Cash ? Do you have proof of payment ? A receipt ? An email receipt ?

If you transferred money or handed over cash and have nothing to prove this, then it sounds like a scam and there isn't much you can do.

Happy to provide as much info as needed.

I paid via my bank.

They were recommended by a family member.

No receipt other then what is on my bank statement but a gazillions messages confirming payment received, excuses, and refund acknowledgement.

You could contact the CAB and ask.

I didn’t think they dealt with these sorts of issues. Thank you, I shall give them a try.

I’m Scotland there is a mechanism for doing this using service by advertisement (with permission of the court). I don’t know if there is an equivalent in England. However you have to ask yourself the question - if I can’t track these people down to serve proceedings, how will I get the money from them even if I win the claim? If it was a company you can get their registered office details on companies house, otherwise you will have a problem.
