Does receiving this mean you are a witness for the prosecution? Or do they write to both sides to advise the case is going to court?

Thanks

Hi,

Your question is too vague to answer without knowing what the content of the letter is about.

PF's are public prosecutors in Scotland (similar to the CPS in England) and handle a wide range of legal things covering criminal law on behalf of the State. You mentioned the word witness in your question..so it could well be that you're being asked to give evidence for the prosecution in court. Or like you suggest, it could be a letter just notifying all parties involved that a case is being heard in court by the PF.
