Can anyone tell me if you have to disclose a police caution (common assault and battery) to your current or future employers? Thanks

For a standard or enhanced DBS , you do not have to disclose a caution.

sorry, that's only if it's filtered!

A caution stays on your record for 6 years

I have an old caution, did not show on my enhanced dbs 10 years on.

A caution is spent immediately, which means you do not have to disclose it to anyone. However, if your job requires a DBS check, a caution for common assault and battery will show up on the check unless you were under 18 at the time the caution was given. The caution will stop appearing on DBS checks after 6 years unless the victim was under 16, in which case it will always be on DBS checks.

If they ask if you’ve a criminal record then if it’s in the last six years then the answer is yes you do, it’s not a conviction but it’s a criminal record for six years. If they ask if there has been a conviction the answer is no. It depends how it’s phrased.
