Morning ,
Because I get better answers on here rather than google… Quick question
Myself and my sister - have been left a property from my grandma.
Does this have to go to probate ? We are joint
owners ( or will be )
Also after someone passing does the estate automatically go over to us - or held with the executor ? -sorry, very new to all of this an unsure.
It’s threatened to be contested.. unsure if it will.
Many thanks.

It will have to go through probate if there is property because the Land Registry will need to see the grant of probate.

Usually, the property won't be transferred at the Land Registry to the executors : it will just be transferred eventually to the beneficiaries. It's more complicated if the beneficiaries are young children but I assume you aren't!

Yes so the executor can manage the estate and distribute assets
Also inheritance tax will be likely I assume on the whole estate
