Sorry a bit of a strange one.

My DM has dementia and is in a home, hopefully will be around for a few more years at least. I want to move but don't want any of my siblings to know where I live as they are utter sh*ts. Due to a joint trust and POA/Will can I appoint a solicitor to deal with all my affairs so my address does not appear on any documents and remains confidential?

They will have my phone number to contact me for DM (which I will promptly close once not needed).

Would it be cheaper to have a PO Box? Or do you want someone else to deal with it all and can you afford that?

GhostStress · 14/03/2022 17:05

Thanks @RandomMess but I don't think you can forward you post to as PO Box number can you? Also Trust HMRC tax returns etc will need to have my details and then siblings will all be sent a copy to sign seeing new address.

All the legal documents seem to have all our addresses on, bank access etc.

Awww this is just a living nightmare! I have had 4 years of the bullying and looks like I will have a few more to endure before I'm free of them - if the stress doesn't kill me first!

It's awful that sometimes I wish it would just be all over tomorrow but then that would mean my lovely DM would have died and of course I don't want that, cruel enough that has dementia.

Can you resign from the PoA or do you not trust them to act in her best interests?

prh47bridge · 14/03/2022 17:22

Yes, you can forward your post to a PO box number. You can use the PO box number for everything, including tax returns, etc.

GhostStress · 14/03/2022 17:22

I do not trust them at all. They did not want DM to go into a home because it would deplete their inheritance - luckily social services intervened. 4 of us on POA and I keep being out voted!

Who deals with the tax returns for the trust? If an accountant, can you use their address for all the trust and legal stuff?

I ask this as we're in a different situation and have set up a family company rather than a trust, and are using (at their suggestion and it's right for us) the accountant's address as the company's public address rather than our home addresses.
