Dog shit all over my drive

Sadbabysitter · 22/02/2022 18:13

I own the driveway and path to the door that a dog is regularly shitting on.
If I am able to catch the dog and owner in the act on camera, what legal recourse do I have?
Many thanks.

Does the owner pick it up or deliberately let the dog poo. How disgusting.

Isn't there a fine for not picking up after your dog? I suppose if you can identify the owner responsible you can report it to the authorities. Don't know how much effort they would put in to pursuing it but hopefully it would stop it from happening again.

TerraNovaTwo · 23/02/2022 06:56

Absolutely vile! 🤢 I'm not sure about how you could pursue this legally, but do set up a camera.

Does your local area have a facebook page? If the police/council/environmental health services won't do anything about it, you could try publicly naming and shaming. Or post a photo of your drive and ask whoever it is to stop?

This reminds me of a meme seen recently on social media - on a Scottish page though 😂 People who let their dogs crap everywhere and not bother to clean up after them should not have animals in the first place.

I'd be posting on local Facebook group

I'd camp out and try to catch/film them and then just go nuclear.

They'll stop crapping on your drive but sadly probably just crap somewhere else.

Muckymaisonette · 23/02/2022 08:56

Find out who’s doing it (will be one dog that the owner lets crap in the same place), put crap in clear plastic bag with a note “yours I presume” and leave it on their doorstep!

Theunamedcat · 23/02/2022 08:59

Legally not much but you could find out when they are doing it and as soon as the dog begins to squat hose the driveway

I had the same problem and thought it was a dog. It turned out to be a cat. I put one of those sonic devices that emits a high pitched noise pointed at the front and it stopped.

At our old house I kept finding dog poo under my kitchen window so I started putting mild chilli sauce right across the driveway entrance and around the bits where dogs kept peeing.

It worked, I just had to really after rain and I must have looked a bit weird with my catering size bottle of sauce.

I figured it would be safe enough for animals as it was a mild one and my cat had eaten some accidentally with no ill effects and just hoped it would smell bad enough to keep them away.

We get a fox regularly poo on our driveway - the security lights come on and I've seen it's the fox, but we get dog owners let their dogs poo on the grass which is annoying. I'm thinking of getting a Ring doorbell to at least make them think about picking it up.
