Life Ledger

Has anyone used Life Ledger after a bereavement? I notified about 12 organisations last Thursday and only two have responded. Not sure whether this is normal, whether to wait a bit longer (how long?) or whether Life Ledger is actually a bit shit and I need to contact the remaining organisations individually.

Not used them but seen feedback that they charge for their services.

Have you used the government Tell us once service?

Ukholidaysaregreat · 22/02/2022 13:40

Yes - I was going to say that too. Try Tell Us Once.

CorrBlimeyGG · 22/02/2022 13:49

I used TUO for government agencies, then contacted banks etc individually. Most have online forms and respond pretty quickly.

riverpebbles · 22/02/2022 13:50

I thought Tell Us Once was just for government stuff. Not things like Netflix.

That's correct, TUO is for government agencies.

For other companies, Google the provider/ bank etc + notify of death, you'll find a result telling you how to contact them.

Fuuuuuckit · 22/02/2022 13:54

Yeah, tell us once is for govt stuff - pensions, council tax, benefits, dvla stuff etc (I used it last night for my mum).

The rest is going to be a massive job I think - calling up individual companies who may/may not need death certificates and 'how long can I be on hold' games.

I've not heard of life ledger. But it is making me think that I should get every company I use details down in one place just in case.

riverpebbles · 22/02/2022 14:03

Must say it seems like false advertising if Life Ledger claim that they will notify all these companies for you but there is no guarantee the notification actually gets to the right place or gets actioned.

It's someone making money out of other people's misfortune I'm afraid.

Stick to online forms rather than calling where you can, takes far less time.

VanGoghsDog · 22/02/2022 14:15

Just cancel all the direct debits, you'll soon hear from them all.

riverpebbles · 01/03/2022 14:20

Just to update you, I have finally started getting notifications from Life Ledger that there is action on some of these account. Over ten days after I originally put in the information. In the meantime I went and contacted all the companies separately anyway as I didn't trust that the service was working.

Following up on this, has anyone here used the Tell Us Once service? We have had absolutely nothing from them - no confirmation email, no letters about council tax, nothing. Does it just take ages?

OP posts:
LifeLedger · 01/04/2022 16:09

It depends on the company that is being notified - some reply instantly some take up to two weeks.

LifeLedger · 01/04/2022 16:12

We don’t charge for our service - it is completely free to notify companies. We do charge for our Register a Life service where users can add in all their details ahead of time and we securely store it.
