I’m looking to try and get a basic will written this week and out the way. No complicated issues, DH and I want the same thing. I just want something down on paper and then if I want to do another one “properly” and in more detail at a later date will do it with a solicitor etc.
Any suggestions of places to look? What have others used?
Don’t want to get to the stage that it makes others lives harder/isn’t accepted.
I’m guessing even if I write “I leave it all to X” date and sign I still need to get it witnessed? Is that just anyone who isn’t named in the will or does it need to be a notary etc?

Assuming you're in the UK, advice here: www.gov.uk/make-will

Best get a form from WH Smith, so you can be sure the wording is appropriate for the UK.

I used freewills.co.uk, and I found them very good. For a simple will, they are very straightforward

Thanks @AnotherDelphinium I’ll do that.

Be very careful.

I'd write what you think and then show it to a solicitor to see if it's ok.

A solicitor can write one that will cover you for the future such as if you have children.
