I doubt very much I would have walked away from a prison sentence as KP has done today. Banned five times from driving, crashed her car while suspended and high on drugs.
As with Meghan Markle the law really does only apply to some people and not others.

I very much doubt you would have gone to prison.

She has been given a suspended sentence of 16 weeks. One of the four reported offences can only be dealt with by a fine. The other three are usually dealt with by fines and/or community orders. In this case, the repeat offending has pushed it up to a prison sentence but, as it is a relatively short sentence, it has been suspended. Note that the judge was clear that, if she had not started treatment, she would have gone to jail.

It is possible someone else would be dealt with more severely - after all, there isn't total consistency in sentencing despite use of sentencing guidelines. But it is quite possible that a non-famous driver in the same situation would have got the same sentence provided they had started treatment. By the way, the suggestion in the Sun that Price has exploited a "legal loophole" is rubbish. If someone seeks relevant treatment, it is likely to affect sentencing for this kind of offence, but that is at the judge's discretion. The treatment doesn't have to be at somewhere expensive like the Priory as the Sun suggests.

I am not sure where Meghan Markle comes into this. As far as I am aware, the only court decision relating to her was in her case against the Mail. That was a perfectly ordinary decision. The only difference if you had been in a position to take action against the Mail in a similar case is that a win would for you would have been even more certain than it was for Markle.
