My partner has been asked to write a character reference for somebody for court. However, he's concerned about something with his personal details on being retained on a court file, especially as the nature of the crime is controversial.
Do solicitors cross-check the personal data included on a reference to verify it? For example, if he used his work address on the letter would the solicitor flag this as not being his registered home address and throw out the letter?
If they did throw out the letter, would they tell the defendant why it was not usable?
TIA!
