He’s now eligible for DA course

Cafcass deemed my ex partner who domestically abused me and my child was not eligible for domestic abuse course, however he gave a small speech in court today and now the judge feels he’s remorseful and should be eligible for the course and said in 6-12 months he can have direct contact with said child if he completes the course (he currently has indirect as he is not deemed safe).

I don’t know what to do anymore. We finally got everything straight for my poor child (indirect) and now we’re being told if he completes the course he can drag us through court again.

I’ve been suicidal during this court process and not sure how much more I can take.

How old is the child? Is it likely he'll complete the course?

Thank you for replying.

Child is 5, we haven’t seen him in 3 years.

He’s adamant he will engage

Presumably the direct contact will be at a contact centre to start with? Try not to worry, he needs to do and pass the course first. The course leaders won't have the wool pulled over their eyes, they'll have seen a full range of parents over the years. Take it step by step.
