Joint tenancy agreement

I signed a joint tenancy agreement with my mother 9 years ago. 6 years ago I moved out and now have a mortgage home. The landlord was made aware of my moving out. I honestly have not thought about this since moving out. Recently my mother has needed to provide a copy of her tenancy agreement, it's the same tenancy agreement. The landlord has refused to remove myself from the tenancy agreement, has he wants me to continue to have a legal responsibility for the rent. Its been six years, surely I have the right to demand I be taken of the tenancy agreement? Also, there has never been any issues with the rent being paid.

Speak to a solicitor.

Well you can both give notice but the risk is he doesn't give her another tenancy? Having said that he could give notice anytime anyway

Under a joint tenancy either party can give notice without the others consent. It does however mean you will be giving notice for your mother, there is obviously no guarantee he’ll give her a new tenancy solely in her name.
