Relative is dying and there's no will

My gran is dying of cancer and she hasn't got a will. She doesn't really have anything, she is just very keen that one of her dcs doesnt inherit anything of whatever she does leave. She's still of sound mind but she's bedbound, how quickly can a will be done? Are we too late to sort it?

A house share sounds like it’s worth fighting over (if they’re TIC) so you do want to make this watertight. Marlow Wills are normally great but in this situation you need someone to attend in person.

If they're joint tenants, you don't have a problem. The house isn't part of her estate, it just defaults to the other owner.

Solicitors make money sorting out home-made wills !
Please do it properly.

You don't know for certain she has nothing to leave. She may have a friend who has made a will leaving her everything, who may predecease her. Or she may own something she doesn't realise is hers. Unlikely but theoretically possible.

Hi, sorry that you are going through this. We had a solicitor come to a hospice when a close relative was dying. If I remember rightly it cost about £600, the nurses in the unit were able to witness it. The solicitor came out at quite short notice xx
