Pregnancy and work

Wondering if there is any sort of legal stance on this issue;

Pregnant and signed off work due to risk assessment being carried out and unsafe for pregnant staff to be in the workplace as it is considered a high risk area. Risk of serious illness, possible illness to unborn child/loss of pregnancy.

Management trying to force pregnant staff back into workplace due to short staffing issues. No written policy is done regarding high risk of work area.

What sort of stance do the workers have on this? And if (god forbid) something detrimental was to occur to woman and unborn baby, what kind of come back does that worker have?

Any help is much appreciated.

The workers should refuse. If your employer is stupid enough to sack any of the women, they will have a case for discrimination.
