Issues with new front door

We had a new front door fitted just over a year ago and we've had constant issues with it. It keeps jamming shut and doesn't open. We have called the fitter back a couple of times and he made adjustments, the last time we had a issue ( about 6 weeks ago when it jammed shut again) he contacted the manufacturer who came out and changed the lock and also made adjustments. It's now jammed shut again and I'm at the end of my tether. I go out and worry about being able to get back into my home. What can I do? I'm at the point now of wanting the door replaced. Where do I stand legally with this?

It isn't clear who you bought the door from - the fitter, the manufacturer or someone else. Whoever it was, your rights are against them, not anyone else.

You must give whoever supplied the door a chance to repair or replace it. They can decide which. It is possible you've already done that. If the repair or replacement fails you are entitled to a refund, although the supplier can make a deduction for the use you have had of the door.

As you have had the door more than 6 months, it is up to you to prove that the door was faulty when it was supplied, so you will need to get an expert report to support your claim if the supplier disputes this. If it goes to court, you will be able to reclaim the cost of the expert report from the supplier if you win.

Thank you for your reply. I purchased the door from the installer but he seems to want to hand over the problem to the manufacturer. The manufacturer have come out and changed the lock, they came out last month, but the door jammed shut again yesterday. So in a nutshell, my contract is with the installer, that's who I paid and it's their name on the paperwork.
