Can anyone help.
My very abusive and controlling husband has now decided to sack his lawyer and represent himself at High Court next month. Has anyone any knowledge how this works and if this works to his advantage - to date we have spent 2 years and 2 trips to court and he doesnt agree to me getting anything - as Ive been a stay at home to our 2 kids and he has worked. I have built up so much debt to get to this stage and achieved nothing. Im so concerned that I end up in so homeless and with nothing.

Let him get on with it. Do you have legal representation? Focus on what you can control, and that is how YOU prepare.

I have but I’m scared to use them too much as it’s so expensive and the hearing itself is £20k which I don’t have

What do you mean by the hearing is £20K, is that what your solicitor is charging? I assume that covers more than the hearing?

Have you spoken to Women's Aid?

Good news if he entirely self reps. Make sure you have a barrister in court, that's more important than anything a solicitor does.

He'll likely screw it up if he self represents against your barrister. Mine inexplicably decided to represent himself at financial and child arrangement hearing. Child arrangement one he tried to correct the judge and my barrister on a point of law, financial one he accused me of having overseas property and an expensive antique china collection as well as forgetting to ask for one of my questions to be discounted. He thinks he is super clever and infallible so I was most amused, it was comedy relief amongst the stress of it all!
