Hi
I use my maiden name and my married name - after working for years freelance in a public-facing role, I couldn't switch everything over and start again.
So my passport has my maiden name, and an official note in that I am also known by the other married name. (Seemed necessary after an unpleasant incident travelling back into the country with my kids, when I and they were quizzed about whether I was their mum).
For the NHS I use my married name so there is the visible link with my kids.
Along comes the NHS app that's needed for various things, prescriptions, Covid vaccine status etc, and their system won't accept my passport! So I had to get extra documentation from the GP to make it work.
And now I have to apply for the new NHS GHIC card and all the proof they want eg bank accounts is in my maiden name.
I feel the net is closing in and technology (though I'm very tech savvy) is making things harder as you can't speak to a real person to sort it out. Though the government knows exactly who I am through National Insurance number, tax etc, things aren't joined up.
How do others navigate all this? Any advice?
