Back story, been separated years, ex h would only divorce if he could apply for the divorce and say it was my unreasonable behaviour (it wasn't, I left due to his years of lying and emotional affairs, then subsequent stalking, hidden cameras after we separated)
He applied for divorce March 2020, he's been delaying it ever since and says stuff like he never received documents etc, finally in January this year the courts sent out the acknowledgement of service, he said he never received it. He had to contact them and him alone to get sent a replacement, he's telling me he's done this but I don't know for sure. I had message from my lawyer today saying they requested a sealed acknowledgement of service which they've received and can send to him so we know for sure he got it, I messaged him and asked if he'd like them to send it and his reply was
"Oh I got it now, I applied for the decree nisi this week". I don't know if he's lying again to extend this process further.
Our divorce was moved from online to paper because of how long it was all going on and "lost documents", when I called the online divorce thing before they said that he was the only person who could call the Bury st Edmunds court about the acknowledgement of service, does this mean they won't give me any info at all if I call them and request the current status of the divorce and if he has actually done what he's said he has? My lawyer costs £240 an hour and I do not want to pay for her time to ask her questions like this or get her to call etc! Him dragging this out has cost me a small fortune and I'm at breaking point!
