I think after ten years it drops off anyway

Fitforforty · 24/06/2021 18:53

Remanded in custody normal means you went to prison- do you mean this or did you spend time in a police cell? Did you accept a caution or were all charges dropped?

Is it an enhanced dbs?

RedMarauder · 24/06/2021 18:56

If it is a basic one it won't show up anyway.

With an enhanced one as you were under 18, not convicted, and it wasn't a crime against a person/other serious crime it shouldn't show up. In the last few years people have gone to Court so people in your situation don't have the stupid things they did under 18 show up and prevent them getting jobs.

Orf1abc · 24/06/2021 18:59

I doubt you were remanded in custody! Please be careful using terms you don't understand, it will make things far worse than they need to be.

Have a read about cautions and see if that rings a bell. Can your brother or parents recall anymore?

Staceyb2018 · 24/06/2021 19:46

I was in a police cell for a few hours then released never went to prison or court

So you weren't remanded in custody. They just detained you while they investigated and released you. A caution might appear but not after ten years.

Ted27 · 24/06/2021 19:49

If you never went to court then you don't have a criminal record, so nothing to worry about.

Staceyb2018 · 24/06/2021 20:03

Thank you everyone

Out of interest does this not show in any DBS search then if you are arrested and let out from the local police station?

30degreesandmeltinghere · 24/06/2021 20:06

Ds joined the army with slight minor discretions from being a frankly bloody awful teenager.. Enhanced DBS came back completely clean. He had been caught with drugs at school and it didn't show up. Despite police involvement..

Ted27 · 24/06/2021 20:17

Depending on the type of check, formal cautions, reprimands or warnings may show up.

prh47bridge · 24/06/2021 22:53

@Ted27

Depending on the type of check, formal cautions, reprimands or warnings may show up.
The rules changed last November. Reprimands, final warnings and youth cautions are no longer disclosed regardless of the type of check. Most adult cautions are not disclosed after 6 years.
