Pension sharing charges in divorce

I was awarded a share in 3 of my ex’s pensions, 2 have been transferred and I’m just awaiting the final one. The order states - it is directed that (*delete as appropriate) the pension sharing charges be apportioned between the parties as follows - 50/50 OR the pension sharing charges be paid in full by the transferor. There are 2 little boxes by this line, Yes and No, ‘Yes’ is ticked. This paragraph is bracketed with the word ‘Stet’.

Does this mean this is an error and the first para stands? ie the charges will be split 50/50? STET seems to mean ‘an instruction to ignore a marked alteration on a printed proof’. I am happy to split the charges, just wanted to check. I could call the solicitor who handled my divorce but I guess I’d be charged!

Stet issued to indicate that something you've most commonly deleted (I suppose it could be added in but it's unlikely) is actually incorrect. From what you've said if they'd ticked the wrong box the could have just crossed out the yes and ticked the No box instead. However, only your solicitor can really confirm what it means in context and they shouldn't charge just for clarifying something that is ambiguous.

Thank you. I decided to phone my solicitor and she advised it was ambiguous but the ‘intent’ was that the costs be split 50/50 so there would be no point into getting into an argument. I am happy to split the costs, I’m getting 90% of this particular DB pension Smile.

Solicitor did not charge either!
